In 2020, Museum W commissioned photographer Satijn Panyigay to photograph the empty museum building just before the renovation started. Panyigay captures in her photographs the traces left by life before they are erased by time. In 2011, for example, she took a series of photos in the houses of recently deceased people while the rooms were being evacuated. And in 2018, she registered a fire-damaged living room of a young art collector and his girlfriend. Panyigay has now also photographed several temporarily closed museums, such as Van Bommel van Dam in Venlo and Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam.
